BRIGHAM YOUNG'S OFFICE

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Headquarters was Brigham Young's Home for many years during the time that he lived in his Winter Home. The building shown above was built as his office for Brigham to take care of his duties both in this area and church wide.  The picture shown above is of the back of the office.  The Webmaster of this site remembers at the time this home was owned by Doctor Gates, a dentist who had his office up stairs in the Brigham Young Winter Home.  The office building was used for only storage and the back door shown was not present. ( As a kid living next door, I can remember peeking in the back window of this building .  I was in this the Brigham Young Winter Home when Dr. Gates owned and lived there.)

FRONT OF THE OFFICE BUILDING BENCHES WERE PREVIOUSLY USED THE IN THE ST. GEORGE TEMPLS

THE TELEGRAPH OFFICE WAS LOCATED ABOUT TWO BLOCKS WEST OF BRIGHAM YOUNG'S OFFICE.  ELISABETH BLEAK, WIFE OF RECORDER JAMES BLEAK,  WAS TRAINED IN SALT LAKE AS A TELEGRAPH OPERATOR AND SERVED IN THAT ASSIGNMENT IN ST. GEORGE.
